SUFFOLK LADIES  V ENGLAND  LADIES PLAYED FEB 11 AT MEADLANDS
 Suffolk ladies had a great day taking on the England team losing by 28 - 16 points and 254 - 231 shots
some very close games going to final ends,some very good performances by the suffolk ladies.

CHARITY TRIPLES TOURNAMENT 1ST MARCH 2020
This years chosen charity was LYMOPHMA  ACTION which a past Suffolk president and bowlers have or had this condition so this was held in support of them. Apart from Suffolk we had teams from Norfolk ,Cambridge and Essex. We had 24 entries so we had 2 groups playing 4 games of 9 ends over 45 minutes. Teams got 4 points for a win 2 points for a draw and a point for every end won.
 
The first group was won by Michael Rice,Tom Weir and Paul Taylor with 40 points and the second group by Malcolm Bailey,Jeff Branch and Alan Hare with 41 points. In a 3 end sudden death tie break, Malcolm's set won 2 - 0.
 
Meadlands Bowls Club provided the venue free of charge and on the day raised just over £1000 .
 
Thanks go to the people who helped with the equipment,Cheryl and Gloria for the raffle,Bob for the Bed and Breakfast vouchers.Chris for the 1 to 100 board and those who helped in the kitchen.
A great day was had by all.

NATIONAL/COUNTY MIXED FOURS 2ND FEBURARY 2020 
A total of 6 sets entered the mixed fours competition, and played as a league so that everyone played 5 games of 9 ends.
 
No team won all their games and they were 3 teams in the running. This was eventually won by Dave Baker,Margaret Hastings,Gloria Scott and Bob Cousins with 9 points who beat John ,Richard and Mary Paddy and Pam Fayers into second place with 8 points. Michael Rice,Derek Adams,Jo Clements and Cheryl Grabham came third with 7 points. 
 
  
NATIONAL/ COUNTY OVER 55's 19TH JANUARY 2020
14 Teams entered the over 55's pairs this season which meant we had 2 groups of 7 each playing 6 games of 9 ends.
 
Winners of group 1 were Chris Roberts and Dave Baker with 10 pts +46 shots and the runners up were John Paddy and Pam Fayers with 8 pts +14 shots,Barry Smith and Tim Norman also had 8 pts but had +6 shots.
 
Winner of group 2 were Bob Cousins and Derek Adams with 11 pts +38 shots and the runners up were Richard and Mary Paddy with 8 pts +14 shots.
 
 In the S/F Bob and Derek beat John and Pam by 15 shots to 2 and Chris and Dave beat Richard and Mary by 10 shots to 1.
 
In the final Bob and Derek beat Chris and Dave by 11 shots to 4 after 8 ends.
 
NATIONAL,COUNTY SINGLES 12TH JANUARY 2020
Total of 16 bowlers entered the singles competition,making 4 groups of 4 so everyone played 3 games of 12 ends in the round robin making a total of 36 ends.

NATIONAL/COUNTY TRIPLES 15TH DECEMBER 2019
12 sets entered the triples competition so in the round robin we had two groups of 6 teams who played 5 games of 10 ends with the top 2 from each group going through to the K O stage.
 
The first group was won by John Chapman ,Dennis and Bill Miller with 9 points and second was Malcolm Bailey, Daphne Fane and Eve Cranfield with 8 points. The second group was won by Bob Cousins, Derek Adams and Jo Clements with 10 points and runners up were Colin Sharp. Donna Mills and Julie Moore with 6 points.
 
In the Semi Final John Chapman's set beat Colin Sharp's set  by 11 shots to 7 and Bob Cousins set beat Malcolm Bailey's set 11 shots to 5
 
In a close fought final it was won by Bob Cousins Derek Adams and Jo Clements who beat John Chapman Dennis and Bill Miller 9 shots to 4
 
NATIONAL /COUNTY FOURS 17TH NOVEMBER 2019
7 Sets entered the fours competition, however an early morning call off due to illness meant a few quick phone calls to find a replacement,thanks Tim Norman for stepping in.
 
The competition was run as a league,so everyone play 6 games of 7 ends. Going in to the lat round anyone from 4 teams were in with a chance of thr throphy, the eventual winners being Tim Norman,Dennis and Bill Miller and Margaret Hastings and the runners up were Bob Cousins, Colin Sharp,Derek Adams and Joanne Clements.

16 Sets entered the pairs competition, making four groups of four. Day started with a round robin everyone playing 12 ends,so everyone played 36 ends.

CHARITY TOURNAMENT 24TH FEBRUARY 2019 
 
On the last sunday in February we held our annual cash triples tournament,this year it was in aid of East Anglian  Children's Hospices (EACH).The day is organised over two sessions 45 minutes apart with everyone playing 4 games of 9 ends over 45 minutes with one session playing and the other one sitting out, Tea and coffee is available all day.
 
Teams get 4 points for a win, 2 for a draw and one point for every end won so adding everything together can make an interesting result as the winners this year actually lost a game.
 
The first group winner was Michael Rice, Rob Hayward and Donna Mills with 38 points and second was Derek Adams, Peter Kerry and Joanne Clements on 36 points. The second group was won by Tony Earlham ,Bob and Carol Taylor with 44 points with John Chapman, Dennis and Bill Miller coming second with 36 points.
 
In the best of a 3 end sudden death tie break, first end was won by Tony's set second end was won by Michael 's set and after a tight measure the third end was also won by Michael making their set the overall winners who received £90 and the runners up £60.
 
The venue was provided free of charge by Meadlands Indoor Bowls Club, we held a raffle also a spider and a 1 to 100 board. We had a sponsorship for the prize money and raised £740 for the day.
 
A big thank you to all the people who helped on the day getting there early to get the equipment out, Pam and her helpers for keeping the kitchen going,to Cheryl and Gloria for organising the raffle and everyone who donated raffle prizes and help clear up afterwards.

A total of 7 sets entered the mixed fours competiton and played as a league so that everyone played 6 games of 7 ends.
 
The league was close fought with 3 teams fighting it out for the title, which was eventally won by Chris Roberts Anita Lambert Lesley Dyer and Dave Baker who beat Michael Rice Derek Adams Joanne Clements and Cheryl Grabham by 11 points to 10 points.

Paul Taylor and Donna Mills with 8 pts and there was 3 teams with 6 pts, however Chris Roberts, Dave Baker and Margaret Hastings went through on shot difference.
 
In the semi final Michael Rice's set beat Chris Roberts set and Colin Sharp's set beat Malcolm Bailey's set.
 
The final was won by Michael Rice's set who beat Colin Sharp's set by 12 shots to 5
